The brief included the replacement of the existing archery facilities and the design of low-rise flatted accommodation for 75 post-graduate students from the University of Edinburgh.
The two main principles that drove the massing for the Student Accommodation were maintaining the view from Archers Hall across to the Meadows while ensuring that its green character was retained, and maximising the open space between the residential blocks to achieve a new urban courtyard. The two resulting residential blocks are mainly two-storey high rising to three at the corners to signify the new entrances to the development.
