This family home is made from an assembly of new and refurbished buildings, giving the reassurance of permanence and the inference of history whilst protecting and enhancing its very special surroundings. The lack of any orthogonal sympathy between the existing buildings was deliberately adopted by the new; giving points of squeeze, release and surprise to the building’s users.
