The site enjoys open views to distance and relative seclusion, a rare combination, and the design takes its figure and form from three agricultural buildings that were already in place, though in ruins. Rebuilding each - one finished in stone, one in timber and one in render - they were then linked together with a glazed circulation quadrangle. That then expands and breaks through the plan to give a generous living space while making a calming courtyard at the heart of the house. A quarter level change in the section is drawn all the way in, through and away from the courtyard to fully root the building to its site.
