We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant (CA, ACCA or equivalent) to work with an award winning architectural practice based in Edinburgh and Forres.
LDN Architects is a limited liability partnership of seven equal partners supported by a talented and creative team who believe in the transformative potential of excellent design. We work throughout the UK on commissions of all scales and our best known for our award winning approach to conservation complemented by creative contemporary design.
Working closely with the Partners, you will be responsible for the day to day financial management of the practice and need to be flexible enough to deal with a diverse range of tasks and challenges. You will have strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with an ability to build positive working relationships. You will be experienced in Xero or similar and have excellent Excel skills. The successful candidate will be used to working in smaller, agile SME’s in a fast paced environment in an equivalent role. A strong work ethic, drive and persistence will complement a ‘can do’ attitude.
It’s essential that you are happy with carrying out all aspects of accountancy and other practice management related activities as this is a hands -on varied role.

This role can include the option for hybrid working, however you should be flexible in terms of office and home based days.
Salary will be discussed at interview and will be dependent upon experience and skills.

The Financial Controller reports directly to the Partners. FC liaises with administrative staff in both offices. Regular contact is required with Forres to ensure that there is continuity between the two offices and that both are following the procedures as set out in the office procedure manual.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.1 Cash Flow Management and Budgeting
1.2 Issuing fees
1.3 Book-keeping/Production of monthly Accounts:
1.4 Value Added Tax:
1.6 Liaising with professional advisors on statutory requirements and new legislation
1.7 Liaising with Bank Manager
1.8 Practice Manager – timekeeping and job cost system
2.0 CLIENT LIAISON
2.1 Assisting with client appointments
2.2 Management of consultant appointments and fees
3.1 Organising and attending Partners Meetings,
3.2 Liaising with Partners on confidential partnership affairs and on individual personal and business matters.
4.1 Assisting with Recruitment/Appointment including Contract of Employment and induction of new staff
4.2 Managing Payroll/ staff Records
4.3. Responsible for administration of Pension Scheme
4.4 Admin of Staff Leavers
4.5 Assisting Partners with specific staff issues
5.0 IT AND EQUIPMENT
5.1 Working with IT group to plan forward IT strategy for the practice
5.2 Implementing purchasing decisions made by IT group, and authorised by Partners
5.3 Ensuring adequate maintenance contracts are in place for all office equipment in both offices
5.4 Liaising with day to day maintenance issues are resolved quickly
6.0 OFFICE ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT
6.1 Management of office junior in facilities matters (eg post, coffee, stationery, phones)
6.2 Practice Insurances, including Professional Indemnity insurance
6.3 Completion of office surveys/benchmarking
6.4 Practice support:- Renewal of lease contracts, utility contracts
7.0 PRACTICE PROCEDURES / QA
7.1 Reviewing and updating administrative procedures with Partners
