Fort George was built to counter the Jacobite threat after 1745 and is one of the best examples of classic eighteenth century fortification in the world. Working on behalf of the MOD, LDN restored the original buildings within the ramparts and created new accommodation for a modern infantry battalion within the original structures. The project won a number of awards including a Europa Nostra Medal.
