Last night we were in Glasgow for the 2018 RIAS Awards event. Three of our projects were shortlisted: McEwan Hall was shortlisted for the main awards while The Patrick Geddes Centre and Portsoy Sail Loft were shortlisted for the RIAS/HES Conservation and Climate Change Award. (read more...)
LDN attended the RIBA Yorkshire Awards ceremony last night in Leeds to represent our shortlisted project, the Piece Hall and Calderdale Central Library & Archives. We had high hopes that the project, which has transformed and rejuvenated the centre of Halifax, would come away with an award but expectations were exceeded when it was presented with not one but four! At the RICS Yorkshire & Humber Awards ceremony on Friday 11th May, the Piece Hall and Calderdale Central Library & Archives project was awarded the prize for Regeneration. The past few days have seen LDN take a trip up to the Banffshire coast, to see completed projects the Cullen Sea School and Portsoy Bunk House (and spend a night or two in the latter). The trip formed a CPD event and provided an opportunity for some of us to see these projects in the flesh for the first time. (read more...)
The winners of the Historic England Heritage Angel Awards were announced last night at a ceremony in London. We were delighted to see Claire Slattery from Calderdale Council win Best Rescue of a Historic Building for the Piece Hall in Halifax. Last night LDN partner Tom Duff accompanied Paul and Hamish of the North East Scotland Preservation Trust to the Scottish Heritage Angel Awards ceremony at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh.
